Caesars Palace in Las Vegas is currently owned by Vici Properties, but that hasn't always been the case. In fact, the legal ownership of the resort has changed several times since 1966.
For the money I paid to stay at Caesars Palace, I had the worst customer service and the room was dirty with unclaimed Boxers. Outstanding Guest Service at Check-In. After driving 6+ hours to Vegas, I could not find my ID at the self check-in express. The front end staff, especially Bryan (with a Y), on Friday.
Here’s the list including every owner of Caesars Palace hotel and casino resort since its inauguration:
- Jay Sarno and Stanley Mallin
- Stuart and Clifford S. Perlman (later known as Caesars World)
- Park Place Entertainment (later known as Caesars Entertainment, Inc.)
- Harrah’s Entertainment (later known as Caesars Entertainment Corporation)
- Vici Properties (a subsidiary of Caesars Entertainment Corporation)
Below is the full history of one of the most prolific Las Vegas resorts of all time.
Ownership of Caesars Palace Vegas
Having started off as a hotel, Caesars Palace has quickly grown into a full gambling resort. Just a few years after its grand opening, it has become a major hub of entertainment in Paradise.
It remains just as impressive today, even though numerous other resorts of a similar scale have risen around it. Nevertheless, Caesars Palace will always remain the first explicitly themed resort with a unique style in Vegas.
1966: Sarno and Mallin
Everything started in 1962 with Stanley Mallin and Jay Sarno. They took a loan of over $10 million for the construction of a new hotel.
Sarno had an idea of a Roman Empire themed establishment and was the lead designer of this style. This included everything from classical architecture to the outfits of the casino staff.
The construction was successfully complete and the hotel opened in 1966. It quickly attracted visitors, performers and new investors around the area.
Two years later, in 1968, the first casino called Circus Circus was opened at Caesars Palace. It was a luxurious venue, just as the hotel itself. Thus, it became a major destination for professional gamblers and celebrities.
1969: Caesars World
Sarno, Mallin and other investors sold the casino to Stuart and Clifford S. Perlman in 1969. They purchased the property for $60 million and continued operating it. The hotel grounds were also expanded in the same year.
Soon afterwards, The Perlmans changed the previous name of their company to Caesars World. The same company owned the resort for over 30 years. The Perlmans, however, sold their shares of Caesars World after a fire incident at the hotel in 1981.
The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace is one of the most successful shopping malls in the entire US. It was during the Caesars World era that it was established, in 1992, to be precise. The 677,138 sq. ft. venue remains a huge attraction to this day.
1999: Park Place Entertainment
In 1999, Park Place Entertainment acquired Caesars World for $30 billion. Hence, the ownership of Caesars Palace (and of several other resorts) shifted as well.
Again, this company changed its name too to use the renown of Caesars Palace to their advantage. Thus, it became known as Caesar’s Entertainment, Inc. in 2003.
They didn’t keep this grand resort for long but they still managed to improve it. The main changes they’ve made was:
- The opening of The Colosseum in 2003
- The refurbishment of The Forum Shops in 2004
2005: Harrah’s Entertainment
Quickly after that, the ownership of the famous Vegas resort changed again. This time, Harrah’s Entertainment acquired the previously mentioned company for $10.4 billion.
In 2010, however, they changed their name into Caesars Entertainment Corporation for the same reason as the previous owners.
Today, the same group owns Caesars Palace, along with around 50 other Vegas casinos. Many of them are situated on the Strip.
2017: Vici Properties
In recent years, Caesars Entertainment reorganized itself from within. Thus, several new daughter enterprises were created. Vici Properties, a real estate investment trust, was one of them.
The ownership of more than 20 resorts and casinos were then transferred to Vici Properties. Caesars Palace is no exception as it’s owned by this subsidiary and leased to Caesars Entertainment today.

Here’s a little about each of these major attractions and services.
Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel
The Caesars Palace hotel has almost 4,000 rooms, suites and even villas available to its visitors. You may choose from modest but excellent apartments to luxurious mansions that emperors could be jealous of.
As with everything else in this resort, the rooms and public areas have a classic art style. Be it elements from ancient Roman, Greek or Renaissance art, you’ll remember a single night there for years.
Of course, it isn’t just the luxurious style and shiny looks. The rooms have all the amenities you’d ever need and the customer service is top-notch. The hotel has earned a seal of excellence on TripAdvisor and definitely deserves it.
Caesars Palace Las Vegas Casino
Caesars Palace casino is even more breathtaking. It has a gaming space of 124,181 sq. ft., with thousands of games and other gambling options.
There are hundreds of slot machines in the casino, situated in an extravagant hall of the Antique design. The visitors there can gamble from 1c to $500 per spin. The games include classic slots, jackpots, video poker, video blackjack and keno, among others.
There’s also a sports betting area with comfortable seats and huge LED screens all around. Gamblers there bet on races, football and various other sports.

The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace
The Forum Shops at Caesars is the main shopping centre at this resort and in the whole of Las Vegas, actually. It’s 677,138 sq. ft. Dragon match game. in size and has over 160 stores.
Many designer stores are located there as well as high-end perfume outlets and other unique establishments. Among those, many popular and affordable brands and retail chains are available to everyone.
Finally, visitors go to the Forum Shops to eat as well. A number of restaurants and coffee houses dot the mall. Its crowning jewel, however, is the 50,000-gallon aquarium themed after Atlantis.
The Colosseum at Caesars Palace
The Colosseum is the most expensive entertainment venue in Las Vegas. Those who stay at Caesars Palace go there to watch various concerts, shows and performances.
Inspired by the Ancient Roman Colosseum in architecture, it can seat 4,300 people. Among the performers in the venue, you’d find many world-known artists like:

“In fact, you wouldn’t be able to check out everything at Caesars Palace even if you wanted to.”
Dining Areas
Speaking of various restaurants alone, the visitor may choose from quick buffets to world-class dining houses. The visitors seem to enjoy eating in:
- Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen
- Nobu Restaurant Las Vegas
- MR CHOW
- And others
Pools & Spa
There are many pool areas to choose from too. The options include private pools with dedicated waiting services as well as exquisite pools for large companies.
You may also enjoy 50,000 sq. ft. Qua Baths and Spa centre. Everything’s designed to imitate an Ancient Roman emperor’s recreation, of course.
Sports
Who Owns Caesars Palace Vegas
Caesars Palace won’t let down sports fans either. There are loads of pubs with large TVs broadcasting football matches and other sports.
If you want some more action, the resort is very close to Las Vegas’ golf courses like Cascata and Rio Secco Golf Club. There’s also a gym for those who want to stay active while enjoying the life of a Caesar.
“All these venues and services may seem like a lot but we have barely scratched the surface of Caesars Palace.”
The amount of activities is awe-inspiring. What’s more, everything we mentioned seems taken straight out from the past. With the exception of the quality, that is, which exceeds most other resorts in the world today.
Tl;DR – Caesars Palace has been owned by many different people in the past. However, it’s been growing and improving with each year.

Clifford 'Cliff' S. Perlman (March 30, 1926 – September 4, 2016) was an American entrepreneur and president and CEO of the Caesars Palace casino in Las Vegas for over a decade. During his ownership he built thousands of additional rooms to what is the current Caesars Palace. Most notably, Perlman first introduced live sports and boxing to Las Vegas. Legal gambling age in las vegas. With his brother Stuart, they founded the international fast food franchiseLum's and bought, sold, and operated an airline.
Perlman, prior to his death, spent his time between his residences in Beverly Hills and Miami.
Early years[edit]
Perlman was born March 30, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he attended primary and secondary school. In 1943, he joined the U.S. Army, stationed at Camp Blanding, Florida, and subsequently joined the 86th Infantry Division, Perlman was shipped to the European Theater, 1944, and served through the end of the war. Perlman was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, three Battle Stars and the Bronze Star.
Returning from the war, Perlman enrolled at the University of Miami in 1947, and the University of Miami School of Law, 1948. He was the founding member of the Bar and Gavel Legal Society and editor of the first law school newspaper, The Barrister. He was admitted to federal and state bars in 1951. He practiced law for nine years under the firm name Perlman, Litman and Sponder.
LUMS[edit]
In 1956, Perlman and his brother Stuart founded the first store of fast food chain LUMS Inc. in Miami Beach, Florida. Lum's was founded for $12,000. With Clifford commanding and Stuart executing, they had within a couple of years established a 389-unit franchise chain that spanned Canada, Puerto Rico, and 29 American states.
Perlman and his brother also owned Dirr's Gold Seal Meats, a business large enough to supply the Lum's chain with 25 percent of its packed meat products while keeping other eateries stocked as well. Their third subsidiary, Dade Wholesale Products, was their only concern outside the food industry. Dade owned an 86-unit string of Eagle Army-Navy Discount Stores, which grew to 111 stores under Perlman stewardship.
The three businesses combined to bring Lum's sales for 1969 totalling $23.2 million, yielding a net income of $2.8 million—too small a bankroll to meet the $60 million purchase price of Caesars Palace. Clifford Perlman then sold both Dade and Dirr's in 1970, raising $8.5 million and $5 million respectively — more than enough to supply the $2 million escrow that was part of the deal between their company and Jay Sarno.
The Perlmans sold the company in 1971 to John Brown of Kentucky Fried Chicken. At the time of sale, the company owned and franchised over 400 stores in the U.S., Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Europe.
Cliff Perlman and the Gaming Industry[edit]
In 1969, under the ownership of Perlman and his brother, Lum's, Inc. purchased Caesars Palace, a 500-room hotel casino on the famous Las Vegas Strip, for $60 million. They renamed the casino Caesar's World. This was the first publicly held company to enter the casino industry in Las Vegas. The transaction was approved by the Nevada Gaming Commission in August 1969. The terms of agreement also stipulated that $30 million would be paid to Sarno during the first year, that the $28 million outstanding would be whittled down by a $9.5 million payment in 1971, and that the rest, at 5.5 percent interest, was to be paid in equal installments over the next three years.
In his 13 years as President and CEO of Caesars Palace, Perlman established his casino as Las Vegas's most prominent and himself as a gaming innovator. He oversaw the business's expansion from a hotel with 550 rooms and pre-tax revenues of $5.8 million to a conglomerate with 1,750 rooms and more than $82 million in pre-tax revenue. While in charge at Caesars Palace, it became known as one of the great entertainment and casino gaming hotels in the world. Caesars Palace was the first Las Vegas casino to implement an organized overseas marketing strategy, opening offices in Mexico City, Mexico, Caracas, Venezuela, and Hong Kong, as well as marketing efforts in Australia and Japan.
During Perlman's tenure the vastly popular entertainer Frank Sinatra played at the casino for over 10 years, the longest continuous engagement of his career. In association with fight promoter Don King, Caesars Palace Las Vegas also hosted major boxing events from 1975 to 1982, including some of history's most famous. Perlman once instructed 'If there is no room to host it the event set it up in the parking lot'. Over 25,000 people attended boxing events in the parking lot at Caesars in 1979, an unheard of figure for those times.[1] Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel & Casino also acquired a Formula One Racing event, hosted by Paul Newman, that was held in Las Vegas for five years and initiated the Alan KingTennis Classic.
Perlman also developed and built Caesar's Tahoe, a 400-room hotel casino on the south shore of Lake Tahoe; Caesar's Palace Atlantic City, a 500-room hotel/100,000-square-foot casino complex; and Cove Haven and Paradise Stream in the Poconos, a hotel complex specializing in honeymoon suites with heart-shaped pools, bath tubs, and beds. Under Perlman's ownership, Cove Haven's pre-tax profit increased from $1 million in 1972 to $32 million in 1982.
In 1972 Perlman also, through Caesar's World, purchased the Thunderbird resort; he resold it to Major Riddle in 1977.
Perlman was appointed the first chairman of MGM Grand, Inc. on the Las Vegas Strip, and oversaw the project's financing and construction.[2] He left the project in 1990 to attend to personal issues.[3]
Perlman and his brother bought First Air and created The Regent Air Corporation in 1983. They had numerous issues, including difficulties obtaining a license from the Federal Aviation Authority for the airline to fly.[4] The airline continued to suffer financially, and the Perlmans sold their shares a few years later.[5][6]
Caesars Palace Restaurants
Perlman also served as a trustee at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, and at the University of North Las Vegas.
Caesar Palace Poker
In 2007 Perlman was inducted into the Gaming Hall of Fame.[7] He died on September 4, 2016 at the age of 90.[8]
